THE MAVERICK PROJECT
An enemies to lovers story about childhood friends that are torn apart by their opposing practices - mavericks, who master the arcane, and warriors, who defend the kingdom with their physical prowess.
After years of no contact, the friends-turned-enemies are forced to work together to complete a mission that they can’t refuse. Now they must navigate a ruined friendship, buried feelings, and their respective weaknesses if they're going to protect the arcane and their home kingdom.
THE CHARACTERS
Asha
AGE: 28
PRACTICE: Maverick
LIKES: apricots, rain, climbing
DISLIKES: willful ignorance, being talked down to, spicy food
Asha is a Maverick in a time where knowledge and use of the arcane is still relatively new, but present enough to be divisive among the peoples.
He left his kingdom behind to train under the Prime Maverick, but it left his relationship with his childhood friend, Rost, in shambles.
Years later, Asha is forced to return for an important mission, one that tests his connection with the arcane and forces him to confront his buried friendship and feelings for Rost.
Rost
AGE: 29
PRACTICE: Warrior
LIKES: training, challenges, food
DISLIKES: laziness, cheating, lying
Rost is a Warrior for his home kingdom and has been training since youth to be the best. He met Asha when they were kids, when his extra training grounds were also home to a tree that Asha often climbed.
Despite Asha’s nonchalant attitude, the two found themselves near inseparable, and Rost imagined they might grow to be the top warrior team in their class. But that was only until Asha grew enamored with the arcane and left. Rost now serves as the kingdom’s top warrior, but is given a mission that he’s hard-pressed to accept.
Mylan
AGE: 40
PRACTICE: Prime Maverick
LIKES: reading, cats, board games
DISLIKES: war, physical activity (besides walking), loud noises
Mylan is the Prime Maverick and Asha’s mentor. He is the one who discovered the arcane and brought it into the world. He not only trains Mavericks, but also oversees all decisions made regarding the arcane.
With a younger generation of Mavericks on the rise, Mylan prefers to remain at his home kingdom, only traveling when absolutely needed. Seeing Asha’s prowess, though, Mylan decides to train him to take his place as Prime Maverick once he is no longer able.

CREATOR'S NOTES
I'm still very much in first draft territory for the Maverick Project. I'm currently writing it as a novella, but I haven't ruled out a visual novel/webcomic form if I build the necessary speed and skills.
All writing and character designs are currently done by yours truly :)
